Screams erupted from the corridor outside, followed by the mechanical whine of security doors locking down. Freeman navigates through contaminated sectors, encountering everything from headcrabs to vortigaunts while evading both aliens and soldiers. Eventually reaching the Lambda Complex portal room, Freeman is stopped by a mysterious figure known as the G-Man. This entity offers Freeman employment in exchange for survival during the coming crisis. The incident concludes with Freeman entering stasis, setting the stage for the Seven Hour War and the subsequent Combine invasion that follows years later.
