Black Mesa Security
The orange-clad guardians who faced the Resonance Cascade head-on.
Black Mesa Security served as the internal law enforcement and emergency response team for the Black Mesa Research Facility. During the catastrophic Resonance Cascade, these guards became the first line of resistance against invading Xen fauna. Their bravery was unmatched, but their conventional weapons proved insufficient against the alien threat.

Lore & Background
Before the incident, Security personnel maintained order in a high-pressure environment where dangerous experiments were conducted daily. They patrolled corridors and monitored containment zones to ensure that safety regulations were strictly followed by scientists and contractors alike. When the teleportation experiment went wrong, the facility was breached by hostile creatures from another dimension. Security guards fought valiantly to hold off waves of aliens while trying to evacuate civilians. Their radios filled with static and screams as the situation spiraled out of control. Ultimately, most of Black Mesa Security perished during the initial breach or were eliminated later. The Hazardous Environment Combat Unit arrived afterward to wipe out all witnesses, including surviving guards who had managed to escape the alien infestation.
In Their Own Story
The radio crackled with static as Officer Miller tightened his grip on the MP5. Orange lights from emergency strobes washed over the concrete corridor. A low growl echoed from the ventilation shaft above. He checked his ammo count, knowing it was insufficient for what lay ahead. The door to Containment Zone C burst open, and shadows detached themselves from the darkness.
Reader's Guide
Black Mesa Security operated under a strict chain of command designed to maintain order within the complex research facility. Their primary objective was personnel safety and asset protection, ensuring experiments remained contained within designated zones. Standard issue equipment included MP5 submachine guns for lethal threats and batons for crowd control or non-lethal restraint. Communication relied on secure radio channels linking guards to central monitoring stations throughout the site. Internal conflicts often arose between security protocols and scientific ambition. Researchers sometimes bypassed safety measures, leading to friction with officers tasked with enforcing regulations. However, this tension became irrelevant once the Resonance Cascade occurred. The hierarchy collapsed as standard operating procedures failed against extraterrestrial biology. Survivors were eventually targeted by external military forces sent to erase evidence of the breach, marking the end of their operational existence within the facility. Their uniforms served as immediate identification for both allies and enemies alike during the chaos.
